Coláiste an Chreagáin, Mountbellew receive the first Gaelbhratach from An Taoiseach Enda Kenny in the Phoenix Park

An Ghaelbhratach is a reward-based scheme which officially recognises schools that are active in the promotion of Irish throughout the school. We formally launched our Club Gaeilge and Coiste Gaeilge whereby we formally meet and organise imeachtaí to promote Gaeilge with the school and the community. The Coiste underwent a series of interviews and observations by Gael Linn representative Siún Ni Shé. We were delighted to receive the news earlier in the week that we were succesful in our endeavours. The prestigious ceremony was held in Mc Kee Army Barracks Phoneix Park Dublin on Thursday 23rd of April 2015. Not alone were we delighted to receive such a pestigious award for Gaeilge but to be one of only two schools in Connaught to have been awarded the Gaelbhratach was overwhelming. An Taoiseach Enda Kenny was the guest of honour on the day and presented the Brat to each school. He was delighted to present the brat to our school having such close personal links with the school, whereby his late mother herself taught.

"Beatha teanga í a labhairt"

Gaelbhratach is a scheme that awards schools for their promotion, use and awareness of the Irish language throughout their school and community. Such is Coláiste an Chreagáin's commitment to gaeilge that we have, for the 4th consecutive year, achieved Gaelbhratach status. Congratulations to all involved, particularly Ms Ní Fhlátharta, An Coiste agus An Timire Gaeilge Tomás Breathnach.
