Coláiste an Chreagáin Crowned Winners of Agri Aware’s and Equuip’s From Foal to Race Showcase
Agri Aware and Equuip crowned students from Coláiste an Chreagáin in Co. Galway as the National Champions of the transition year programme From Foal to Race on Wednesday, May 13, at the Racing Academy and Centre of Education in Co. Kildare.
Huge congratulations to students Tanya Mannion, Mischa Moran and Caitlin Flynn who won the programme’s first-ever Showcase with their project, ‘Bridging the Gap Between Equine Health and Data Analytics’. During the competition, the judges were impressed by the teams innovative smart halter concept, which collects and transmits real-time health data from a horse directly to its owner and veterinarian.
Commenting on the winning project was Equuip Curriculum Development and Standards Manager Stephanie Scully, who said: “Congratulations to all the students who took part in this year’s From Foal to Race Showcase. The creativity, passion and innovation on display were incredibly impressive, and the winning project from Coláiste an Chreagáin, Mountbellew demonstrated a brilliant understanding of how technology can support equine welfare and performance. A brilliant example of innovation, technology and equine welfare coming together.

National Winners 2024-2025 Agri Aware From Foal to Race
Super News as Coláiste an Chreagáin students win Top Prize of €1,000 2024-2025 Agri Aware From Foal to Race. Students Megan Flynn, Leanne Egan, Gillian Byrnes, and Eabha Donnelly from Coláiste Chreagáin received the top prize for their project, “Rachel Blackmore: ‘Pioneering Jockey and Role Model for Young Girls.
Their project, inspired by the From Foal to Race programme, explored the career of one of Ireland’s most inspiring jockeys. The project was completed as part of their TY studies under the guidance of Science Teacher Aisling O’Dea. The students were presented with a €1,000 cheque for their school to support educational learnings.
