Irish is Blooming at Cregáin College, Mountbellew
"Life is a language to speak!" and nowhere has this been more evident than at Coláiste an Creagáin over the past year who is celebrating a remarkable milestone after achieving its 11th Gaelbhratach flag, recognizing the school's outstanding commitment to promoting and celebrating the Irish language. This achievement reflects a year filled with enthusiasm, participation, and pride in Irish across the entire school community.

The school was delighted to receive the continued support of GRETB's Timire Gaeilge Siobhán Ní Fhlátharta, which enabled students to immerse themselves in Irish language and culture during a memorable visit to the Inis Oírr. Students experienced the richness of Gaeltacht life firsthand while also taking part in an exciting Peil na mBan Gaeltacht blitz, showcasing both sporting talent and teamwork through Irish.
The year concluded on a high note at the school's Awards Ceremony with the presentation of the prestigious Duais na Gaeilge Tomás Ó Maolalaidh, awarded this year to Sheenagh Martyn in recognition of her outstanding commitment and achievement in Irish over the past six years.
Irish Week
Gaelbhratach is a scheme operated and coordinated by Gael Linn with support from Conradh na Gaeilge and Glór na nGael. This scheme supports and encourages schools in their efforts to promote the Irish language. Schools are awarded the Gaelbhratach upon successful completion of a variety of targets. The primary aim of the scheme is to create and encourage a culture of speaking Irish informally within the school community and beyond. Students were successful again this year and were awarded their 5th flag at a ceremony in The Pavilion, Lepordstown Raceourse on the 21st of May. Comhghairdeas libh.
