Our QQI level 5 Healthcare Support Major Award is designed to give those wishing to work in the Healthcare system a thorough grounding in the necessary skills. The course is relevant and highly practical, with each module focusing on a specific area of care.

Whether planning to work in hospitals, in the community or in residential care, learners will find stimulating and functional modules with knowledge which can easily be applied to the workplace.

How the course is taught:
Coláiste an Chreagáin has developed a style of teaching to meet the demands of a diverse community of learners.
  • Learners develop skills of analysis, critical thinking, problem solving and reflective practice.
  • We make extensive use of advanced multimedia and internet based technologies to bring subject matter to life and to ensure effective learning.
  • Regulated Clinical Placements (Work Experience).
  • Vital learning supports are tailored to the needs of the individual learners.
  • Career guidance assistance re UCAS, CAO and specialised guidance and training for Mature Code Applicants eg. NCC written assessment and NCC interview preparation.

Work Experience

Work experience takes place one day per week throughout the academic year.

Students have a practical opportunity here to apply theory, knowledge and interpersonal skills in a variety of settings.

Duration
This is a one-year, full-time course and runs from September to May.

Fees

€175 Coláiste an Chreagáin Student Services Fee applies to all learners.
€200 Government Levy Fee applies to all learners except:

  • Those in receipt of Back to Education Allowance.
  • Medical Card Holders (valid at time of Registration).
  • Those in receipt of a SUSI Grant.
  • Those on a VTOS scheme.

An exam fee of €50 for QQI Level 5 applies to all learners except

  • Those in receipt of Back to Education Allowance.
  • Medical Card Holders (valid at time of Registration).

Non EU Students are subject to an International Fee.

We advise non-EU citizens living outside Ireland to contact the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service on www.inis.gov.ie to ensure the course you are considering applying for is eligible for a student visa. Non-EU citizens living in Ireland are welcome to apply and require a PPS number (Personal Public Service Number). Non-EU citizens are required to pay a tuition fee set by the Irish government which is currently €3653. Some exemptions apply, for further information, please contact http://www.gretb.ie .
