QQI Award Level 5 Early Nursing Studies
This one-year course is designed to equip you with practical experience in healthcare clinical setting
which, combined with an insight into theories relating to the nursing profession, will enable you to
deliver high standards of care and build your potential progress.

Nursing Theory and Practice, Anatomy and Physiology, Human Growth and Development, Care Skills,
Communications, Work Experience, Infection Prevention & Control, Care of the Older Person,
Intellectual Disability Studies

Career Opportunities/Progression
Upon successful completion of this course, Graduates are eligible to apply for academic progression
routes in Nursing in Ireland and the UK. Graduates are also qualified to work under supervision in a
variety of hospital and other healthcare settings and or to progress to further and or higher education
and training.

Work Placement
Garda vetting is a mandatory requirement for this course. Students will require work experience in a
care setting which can be in a hospital, nursing home or community day service where the learners
have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and theory they have acquired in the college to patient
and client care.
Course Fees
€175 Student Services Fee applies to all learners.
An exam free of €50 for QQI Level 5 applies to all learners except
Those in receipt of Back to Education Allowance.
