Our QQI Level 5 Major award programme is designed to prepare learners to acquire transversal and employability skills, learners could progress to employment in a wide range of generalist roles in various sectors. This course will also prepare learners who wish to continue with Further and Higher Education.
Learners will develop the knowledge and skills to use a range of common computer applications
Modules
Learners will need to complete all modules to achieve the major award.
Work Experience
Work experience takes place one day per week throughout the academic year.
Students have a practical opportunity here to apply theory, knowledge and interpersonal skills in a variety of settings.

Duration
This is a one-year, full-time course that runs from September to May
Entry Requirements
- Education: No formal education or qualifications are required although applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 4 when accessing a Level 5 programme.
- Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
- Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.

Fees
- Fees for this year are €175.
- An exam free of €50 for QQI Level 5 applies to all learners except
Those in receipt of Back to Education Allowance.

Progression
This programme is structured to provide graduates with a Certificate in General Studies. Also there is the opportunity to progress to other Further and Higher Education Courses. This enables students, who may not have the required Leaving Certificate points, entry to their desired course from the CAO system. The successful completion of this PLC course can provide the opportunity to achieve up to 390 points and gain access to 3rd Level or for mature students who did not complete a Leaving Certificate to gain access to 3rd Level by applying through the CAO system, http://www.cao.ie/index.php?page=fetac_search
